Favorite quote: “I’m an archess- a female angel made as a mate to one of the four favorite archangels. And so are you.”

summary from Goodreads
Since the beginning of time, the archangels have longed to know true love.

When four female angels were created for the four archangels, Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, and Azrael, a chaos spurred by jealousy erupted, and the archesses were secreted away to Earth. The four favored archangels followed, prompting a search that has lasted millennia…

For hundreds of years, Gabriel has passed himself off as a common Scottish villager. Few know he is the Messenger, a powerful archangel who has secretly scoured the world for the only woman who can complete him. Now, he’s shocked to discover the object of his desire in his own backyard.

Researching her Ph.D. in the Outer Hebrides, Juliette Anderson has always been the rational type—until she looks across a quaint pub into the silver eyes of a stranger. He’s handsome. He’s intense. And he claims her with a searing kiss on the spot.

Every instinct tells her to run. But when a dark force rises, and the truth of her identity is revealed, she must put her faith in the mysterious man who enflames her.

Ellie's thoughts:
Juliette Anderson thinks her prayers have been answered when she is offered a job in the Scottish Highlands and a chance to finish her thesis paper. Juliette has always wanted to go to Scotland and immediately feels like she’s home as soon as she get there. Walking into a pub one night she is startled to find the most beautiful man she has ever seen and the attraction between them is something she’s never felt before. As soon as She meets Gabriel her whole world flips upside down and she soon discovers things about herself she never could have imagined.

Gabriel has spent the last ten centuries searching for his lost archess and he never expected to meet her in his favorite pub in Scotland. As one of the four favorite Archangels, Gabriel and his brothers were each given a perfect mate, an archess, who were lost hundreds of years ago and lead to the four archangels coming to Earth to search for them. Gabriel is not the only one who wants Juliette and he must convince her to trust him or he could once again lose her forever.

Messenger’s Angel is the second book in Killough-Walden’s Lost Angel series and I have been dying to read it ever since I finished Avenger’s Angel. I love the idea that there are four lost archesses out in the world and that the archangels left Heaven to search for them. I am not a big fan of the Adarians, the warrior angels who want to keep the archesses for themselves. I feel that there is way too much time spent on them and they don’t do anything but annoy me. I feel they are a lot like the lessers in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brother series and I have to fight to not just skip over there scenes.

I did really like both Gabriel and Juliette both separate and as a couple. I loved how they first meet and it was my favorite part of the entire book. We get to see it from both of their point of views and it is a very intense moment. There are a few times when I thought they both got a little annoying and I wanted to shake Juliette but other then that I really enjoyed their story.

The main reason I gave this book a C+ is because there is just way too many points of view going on. There are too many characters and too much stuff going on for me. We get Gabriel, Juliette, a couple different Adarians, Samuel and it just keeps going. There were a few times when I felt like I read twenty or thirty pages and not a single one of them were Gabriel or Juliette who I actually really want to read about. I hope in future books this stops because it really ruined the book for me.

Besides the many points of view I really do like this book and the series. We get a little teaser for the third book and I think it’s going to be amazing. I definitely recommend reading the books in order or you can get lost pretty quickly. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the world of archangels and their archesses but I bet it’s going to be good.
