Author Interview + Giveaway: Tori St. Claire

Today, I'd like to welcome Tori St. Claire, author of the Black Opal series to Love To Read For

Tell us a little about yourself. Have you always wanted to be a writer?
I’m Tori, and I have a problem… oh wait… wrong intro  I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist. I’m a single mom of two boys, who has an infatuation with words. Some would say I have an infatuation with imaginary people – I’ll just refrain from voicing my opinion there. I am fascinated by the question “What if?” and have a complete weakness for any sort of furry critter. I’m also a huge history buff and I’m crazy about horses.

What do you love most about writing?
Honestly? The complete freedom to be my own boss. But that aside, I love to bring to life the stories that fascinate me, in hopes someone else will enjoy them as well. It’s a great outlet for creativity and I couldn’t ask for any other job that would make me nearly as happy.

Describe Lie To Me in 140 characters or less.
I can’t! I’m no good at this. Okay… trying… When a covert agent sells the wrong woman into slavery, he’s thrown into personal hell. But returning her means confronting her deadly past before her secrets kill them all. And with “tweetlonger” I pass 

Are you a romantic at heart?
Gosh that’s hard. I am not a typical girl in the sense of flowers, candlelight, and fireplaces melt my heart. So typical romantic settings or the like don’t make me mushy. But I do believe in romance and I do tend to be a softie. The story involves human trafficking.

Did you have to do a lot of research?
No, not really. Particularly not for Lie to Me as the true trafficking research came more into play with Stripped, the first Black Opal story. That was primarily related to understanding source and destination countries and the Bratva out of Moscow. This time around, with Lie to Me, I had to do more location research and technical research relating to travel. I’ve never been to Europe, and this story is set there, so I had to poll the world travelers.

Is it difficult writing smoking hot sex scenes?
Years ago I would have said yes. I blushed profusely when having to write my first sex scene. Now though, once I broke that bar, per se, I actually have to hold myself back when I’m writing my non-erotic stuff, and that’s become more difficult than what you have in Lie to Me.

How many books do you have planned for this series?
At present I have four more eyeballed, with three loosely plotted.

Once the series is wrapped up, what’s next?
I don’t honestly know. I’m having so much fun with the Black Opals, and under my other penname, Claire Ashgrove, I have several irons in the fire. Right now I’m playing things by ear and waiting until some contract deadlines are completed.

What are you reading right now? Who are some of your favorite authors?
I am not reading anything right now. I’m on a blog tour, with two more in the next two months. Plus, I have a present deadline I’m trying to finish, and have two novels to complete in the next few months. No downtime for me presently. Laugh.

Author bio:
National Bestselling author Tori St. Claire grew up writing. Hobby quickly turned into passion, and when she discovered the world of romance as a teen, poems and short stories gave way to full length novels with sexy heroes and heroines waiting to be swept off their feet. She wrote her first romance novel at seventeen. While that manuscript gathered dust-bunnies beneath the bed, she went on to establish herself as a contemporary, historical, and paranormal author under the pen name, Claire Ashgrove. Her writing, however, skirted a fine line between hot and steamy, and motivated by authors she admired, she pushed her boundaries and made the leap into erotica, using the darker side of human nature and on-the-edge suspense to drive grittier, sexier, stories. Her erotic romantic suspense novels are searingly sensual experiences that unite passion with true emotion, and the all-consuming tie that binds -- love.

A man of action…

After helping to break up a Russian human trafficking ring as part of the CIA’s elite Black Opal team, Alexei Nikanova’s newest assignment is to rescue one of the stolen women and return her to her father. When he arrives in Dubai, he discovers his target is Sasha Zablosky—a woman he knows all too well, and who has haunted him ever since their unforgettable time together in Moscow, two and a half years earlier. But he finds Sasha reluctant to leave her sheikh, the only true friend she’s ever known. Only Alexei can’t give her a choice.

A woman of deception…

With their yearning roused by intrigue, Alexei and Sasha can no longer resist temptation, and spend night after night in forbidden pleasure. Soon Alexei finds himself falling for her, even as he battles a shadowy menace to protect her. But Sasha is no innocent. She has a past darker than she could ever admit, one that Alexei could never forgive. And it is about to explode into her life once more. As the lies they tell themselves—and each other—pull them deeper into a perilous desire, what began as simple passion becomes a love certain to destroy them and end the lives of countless innocents.
