Author Interview + Giveaway: Cari Quinn

Today I'd like to welcome author, Cari Quinn, to Love To Read For Fun.
Welcome Cari!

Huge thanks to Marquetta for inviting me!

Tell us a little about yourself. Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Sure! Well, let’s see. I’m a full time writer with an addiction to pumpkin spice lattes, watching men’s college basketball, and I absolutely love anything Halloween-related. I’m heading to Salem, Mass this weekend with my bestie, so that kind of proves my love of things that go bump in the night!

I didn’t always want to be a writer but I always wrote, even back in my elementary school days. My original career choice was to be a singer. Music will always be my first love.

What do you love most about writing?
When it works! Sounds elemental, I know, but there’s a zone a writer gets into—usually after many hours/pages to get to that point—where the words pour out and everything runs all cylinders. Though I don’t run, I imagine it might be sort of like a runner’s high. That sense of exhilaration that makes it all worth it.

How do you find the time to write?
After being laid off this past winter, I’m lucky enough to now write full-time. Even so, all the other writing-related tasks that aren’t writing seem to take up a lot of time! But the main thing that works for me is writing before I log into social media for the day. Once I do that, my attention span’s shot!

Describe No Flowers Required in 140 characters or less
Totally stealing my awesome tagline for this one! He’ll give her everything she desires… except his identity.

You write some pretty steamy books (yay!). Is it difficult writing smoking hot sex scenes?
That’s an emphatic YES! Sex scenes take me twice as long as any other scene, and in an erotic book, they’re usually plentiful. With sex scenes you really need to be in the right frame of mind, so sometimes if I’m cranky or sick and not feeling it, I’ll write around those scenes and come back to them later. They’re an erotic book’s action scenes and so important to get just right!

How many books do you have planned for the Love Required series?
I’m working on the third book, NO ROMANCE REQUIRED, right now. After that, I have ideas for at least two more, but we’ll see what happens.

Once the series is wrapped up, what’s next?
Lots of things! I have another series of novellas I’m launching soon with Entangled Publishing, The Firefighters of Battle Creek. Book 1, TWICE BURNED, should be out this winter. Otherwise, please check out my website: www.cariquinn.com to keep up to date!

(Firemen?!? Yummy!)

What are you reading right now? Who are some of your favorite authors?
Right now I’m reading Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis. It’s my first book of hers, but won’t be the last! Because my list of favorite authors is as long as my arm (and starts with my awesomesauce CP, Taryn Elliott) I’ll go with my favorite author overall: Nora Roberts. It was after reading Nora’s Public Secrets in 8th grade that I decided to pursue this writing thing full tilt. It took me years to finish a book, but Nora still inspires me to this day!

I have one (1) eBook copy of No Flowers Required to giveaway (ePub or Pdf). The giveaway is open internationally. To enter, leave a comment with your email address. Giveaway ends 9/27/12. Good luck!

Blurb:
He’ll give her everything she desires...except his identity.

Flower shop owner Alexa Conroy had it all before the recession hit and her customers fled to cheaper shopping grounds. Desperate to make ends meet, she sells her dream home and moves into the rundown apartments above her shop. When she spots six feet of sexy distraction—complete with muscles, piercings, and tattoos—ripping up flooring, Alexa knows the karmic windfall she’s due just landed on her doorstep.
And the attraction’s definitely not one-sided.

Dillon James, reluctant heir to the corporation about to foreclose on Alexa’s shop, is not about to jeopardize their scorching chemistry by admitting he’s not the building’s handyman. But with only weeks until her business goes under and his identity is revealed, Dillon must find a way to convince Alexa cooperation isn’t a dirty word, help her save the shop from his brother’s greed, and persuade her that he’s not the enemy...or risk losing the only woman who’s seen the real him.
