Her Visions Lead Her To Danger

Beautiful Cassandra is a Were, a prophet both vulnerable and defiant, blessed with visions that portend the fate of the world. A rare and delicate creature, Cassie must be protected at all costs. Enter Caine, a powerful cur turned pureblooded Were whose recent tangles with a demon lord have left him in serious need of redemption. Caine is duty-bound to keep Cassie out of danger—and that means resisting his potent urge to seduce her.

And Only He Can Save Her

As Cassie's mysterious visions lead them in and out of danger, Caine believes he has found his true mate, the woman with whom he is bound for all eternity. Cassie is both charmed and frightened by Caine's magnetism, and unsure if he—or her feelings for him—can be trusted. But Cassie can't afford to doubt Cain now. A deadly enemy bent on destruction is closer than they realize—and only they can keep chaos from ruling the world.

Ellie's thoughts:
Cassandra, aka Cassie, is a pure blood Wer and one of four quadruplets sisters that were stolen as babies and lost to the King of the Wers and his pack. Cassandra was taken and used for her gifts of seeing the future and turns out to be a prophet who will play a huge role in the rise or fall of the Dark Lord. Because of her gift Cassie is sought after by players on both sides of the war but Caine is determined to protect her at any cost.

Caine has lived a pretty rough life first as a starving child on the streets of Paris and America and then as a turned Cur later in life. After dying and being brought back as a pure blood Wer Caine has made it his life mission to protect Cassie, the one woman who makes him forget all the horrible things he has done to survive. With the rise of the Dark Lord approaching its up to Cassie and Caine to join forces with her sister and their mates and try to stop evil from taking over the world.

As a huge fan of the Guardians of Eternity series I have eagerly been anticipating Cassandra and Caine’s book. We first meet this two characters in Beyond the Darkness which was the sixth installment of the series and the last book that I really enjoyed. Fear the Darkness was everything that I could have hoped for and I feel like the series is as good as it once was. One of the great things about Fear the Darkness is that as a fan of the series I already knew all the characters and loved getting a chance to see them again. If you have not read all the books in this amazing paranormal romance series I highly recommend that you read the books in order to have any idea of what is going on.

I really liked Caine but Cassie got on my nerves after awhile. I understand that she was held prisoner for most of her adult life but she comes off naive about the world on second then sprouting television references the next. I did love the chemistry between the two and enjoyed watching their relationship grow over time and not have them meet and fall in love four hours later. I felt that Cassie and Caine brought out the best in one another and I did enjoy how much they had each others back and worked together.

As I mentioned before I love that all of the characters from previous books make an appearance in Fear the Darkness. I did think that too much time was spent on characters other than Cassie and Caine and that way too much time was spent on Gaius and the Dark Lord. Gaius gets almost as much time as Cassie and Caine and I have no idea who he is. I realize he might be a big player in future books but I really wanted to learn more about Cassie and Caine and it seemed like every time things got good it skipped to a scene with the Dark Lord. After a while this got very frustrating and ruined the flow of the story.

As I mentioned I haven’t been a huge fan of the last few books but Fear the Darkness was great and made me enjoy this series again. I wish that Levet would have been in the plot more just for his sense of humor and ability to to make me laugh. I have no idea where this series is going now but I am very excited to see what happens next.
