Favorite quote: "...But someday I'm going to own all of you, Marie. You're all mine, babe. Knew it the first time I saw you. Couldn't give you up if I tried."

summary from Goodreads
Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.

But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.

Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.

Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.

Maybe.

Marq's thoughts:
Reaper's Property isn't your typical romance. The hero, Horse, is kind of asshole but you can't help but like him. He's part of a bad-ass MC (Motorcycle Club) and his life is violent. But all Horse wants is an Old Lady, someone to wear his patch and who he can claim as his own. That's what he sees in Marie when he first lays eyes on her. Their meeting isn't flowers and violins. Horse assumes at first that Marie was a MC hanger-on, a sweet butt. Sweet butts are women who hang out with the MC and gets passed around among the members. A sweet butt doesn't have the power or respect of an old lady but she's content, for now, to be a part of the MC.

Marie just left her abusive husband and is sharing a trailer with her brother, Jeff. When she first meets Horse and the Reapers, she is a little intimidated. They are dangerous looking and ride huge, loud bikes. She doesn't understand why they hang with her brother but she doesn't ask too many questions. As the Reapers visit Marie's brother for business reasons, Horse and Marie give in to their attraction. Horse moves pretty fast and wants Marie to be his old lady but Marie isn't ready to be anyone's property.

When I saw the buzz on twitter about Reaper's Property and that the hero's name is Horse, I knew that I had to read it immediately. I read Reaper's Property in a day. That's rare for me. I could not put it down. I was thoroughly engrossed in the story. While reading Reaper's Property, I couldn't help but associate the Reapers with my favorite TV show, Sons of Anarchy. It had a SOA feel that I enjoyed.

The MC business is dark and gritty and the author doesn't shy away from that. The Reapers make money illegally and have no plans on changing that. They are cocky, possessive, sexist and treat women like property. But once they fall in love with you, they treat their women like a queen. It was fun watching a badass biker dude lose his shit over a woman.

The chemistry between Horse and Marie was off the charts. They have chemistry in and out of bed. The sex scenes are smoking hot and there are plenty of them. But there's also a romance, just not your typical one. The one thing that the author did that totally worked for me and made Horse less of an asshole, is the alternating POVs. The story is told from mostly Marie's 1st person POV but about midway through the book, Horse's POV is thrown in there. And I must say, it sheds a more human light on Horse.

I loved Reaper's Property. I loved Horse even though there were plenty of times I wanted to smack the crap out of him. Marie is a great character and I liked her a lot. I heard that there will be more books about the Reapers MC and I hope so. If you're a fan of Sons of Anarchy, you'll definitely like this one.

  1. I've heard great things about this book, and it sounds so intriguing, but the $7 price tag has put me off trying it.
